Lancashire charities join forces for fashion fundraiser

Two Lancashire charities are set to host a fashion-filled evening, looking to raise funds to further support their services.

Lancashire Women and Advocacy Focus are working together to raise awareness about struggles faced in the community.

The event will take place on Wednesday 16 October at Mitton Hall, Whalley from 6.30pm.

India Glassbrook, marketing officer at Lancashire Women and Kim Walsh, marketing executive at Advocacy Focus are excited ahead of the fundraiser.

India said the night will be ‘something special’. She said: “It’s an opportunity to be a little bit fancy, wear a nice dress and a nice pair of heels for the night.

“It’s a different type of fundraiser, something where people can come and mingle on the night. Even if you can’t make, people can still support by donating.

“We just want to support that woman to give her a better life, to make her feel empowered in herself.”

Lancashire Women, based in Blackburn, aims to create positive change for those who need help with issues like women’s health, money advice and employability.

Kim said: ‘’When we spoke to Lancashire Women about this, we thought there was a really good opportunity to mix our two audiences, especially with us both being Lancashire based and providing local services to local people.’’

Raising awareness of the charities’ work is just as important as raising money, she added.

‘’I think that’s something that we both face is that making sure people know that we’re there for them,’’ said Kim

Advocacy Focus looks to provide positive change with their advocacy support amongst people of all ages, genders and backgrounds.

Lancashire Women have recently raised more than £3,000 with their ‘Walk with Lancashire Women 2024’ event.
