Lancashire charity to host fashion show for local community

A Preston-based charity is preparing for a night of glitz and glamour, with the whole community welcome to come along.

Caritas Care is hosting a Colours Fashion Show to help raise funds for the charity and help locals visit stalls with clothes to pick out.

The fashion show will take place on Friday 1 November at Plungington Community Centre, Preston starting at 6.15pm.

Sharon Bassa, organiser of the event, is looking forward to the fashion show.

‘’It’s a good night and it seems to have been enjoyed on the other two occasions that we’ve run it.

‘’It’s ladies’ fashion but it’s open to all.’’

‘’It’s just people coming together, having a good time.’’

”It’s also a good opportunity for people to grab some early gifts.”

Sharon added: ‘’People are starting to think about Christmas shopping, so they can buy a few things that they can’t get on the high street.’’

Caritas Care, based on Tulketh Road, Preston, specialises in helping local communities with their fostering and adoption services.

People supported by the charity will be helping on the evening with setting up stalls and being available to anyone who want to know more about their services.

Lindsey Duckworth, marketing manager, has been part of the charity for nine years and is looking to raise awareness among those in the community in need.

She said: ”It’s important for us to raise awareness about the diverse range of services we provide at Caritas Care for children, young people, families, and communities.

‘’When we do run events, they’re inclusive for all, it allows people to buy things at reduced cost which at the moment is important to everybody.

”Events like these are vital in sustaining and enhancing the services that our community values so deeply.’

‘’It also allows the people we work with and support every day to be involved in those events, choose things for themselves and be independent,’’ added Lindsey.
