Natasha Jonas claims Lauren Price will not be the best fighter she’s come up against but believes it’s the opposite for her opponent.

The pair come together on March 7 for their unification bout billed as ‘Unstoppable’, which will decide the homes of Jonas’ WBC and IBF and Price’s WBA and IBO belts.

Price will be going into the bout as favourite as she looks to build on her professional unbeaten record of eight fights since winning gold at the 2020 Olympics.

Despite this, proud Liverpudlian Natasha Jones refuses to believe she is the underdog, going as far as claiming Lauren Price ‘’still isn’t at the top of my card”.

In her ‘The Gloves Are Off’ interview, she said it was the other way around: “I’m the best name on her card and that’s why she wants the fight, pushing for the fight.

“I think Mikaela Mayer is a better all-round fighter and she’s top of my card,” Jonas added.

Jonas’ last defeat was at the hands of Katie Taylor in 2021 after unanimous referee decisions following a thoroughly entertaining fight that went the distance.

She hasn’t lost for four years but, despite this, Price is confident she can take the fight to her opponent on Friday.

“I believe in myself and I believe I will win the fight,” Newport-born Price insisted.

“She’ll find out when she gets in that ring that it’s fair enough doing talking outside the ring saying Mayer is her toughest opponent, but when I’m in front of them, I start to move, start to use my feet, I’m a different ball game.’’

Price remained icy cold in their gloves are off interview, ignoring comments from Jonas who insisted the fight means more to the Welshwoman than her.

Regardless of what has been said, the fight will be huge for both competitors and could see the belts unified for the first time since 2020.

It could also be the pinnacle for Jonas’ illustrious career if, as rumours have it, she edging closer to retirement, when she could end her boxing life as one of the best in history with four belts, or lose her titles and reluctantly call it a loss.

Either way, the fight on Friday will undoubtedly be a close affair, with two boxing styles that point to an enthralling contest.

Jonas’ previous 5 fights:

  • UD victory vs Habazin – December 2024
  • SD victory vs Mayer – January 2024
  • TKO victory vs Wyatt – July 2023
  • UD victory vs Dicaire – November 2022
  • UD victory vs Berghuilt – September 2022
